High Altitude High Range Remote Control Transmitter with Receiver

Introduction ZalNearSpace, LLC is inviting individuals and small businesses to submit a proposal in response to the below solicitation. This Request for Proposal (RFP) is open to responses to all United States of America commercial entities. Response to this RFP is requested within the context of the requirements and general approach described in the following sections. Background ZalNearSpace is designing and developing the first near space vehicle that will be fully controllable in latitude/longitude directions as well as altitude. The vehicle configuration will not be disclosed in this RFP. The near space vehicle will have 4 independent controls for the latitude/longitude directions in order to operate the vehicle in all 4 planar motions as well as an altitude controller. Each of the 5 receiver channels will be connected to an independent DC electric motor. Controller Description The preliminary controller design is shown in Figure 1. The controller shall have a joystick to operate the 4 independent latitude/longitude directions and a knob to control the altitude of the vehicle. The controller shall also have an LED display that shows both the altitude and power of the channel connected to the altitude control. The power of the altitude channel, which connects to a DC motor regulating the altitude of the vehicle, is crucial in the design and requires a high precision potentiometer. The controller shall also have a voltage surge switch, which will provide immediate potential difference in a circuit. We envision this switch to be an on/off switch similar to the power switch. Preliminary Controller Design Concept Transmitter/Receiver Description Since the near space vehicle will be operating at high altitude, the receiver shall be functional up to 24 kilometers and have a 30 kilometer range. Request for Proposal The submitted proposal shall answer to the following requirements for the controller, transmitter, and receiver (Table 1). Table 1. Format The proposal shall be written using Times New Roman size 12 font in either Word or PDF format. The proposal shall be limited to 10 pages and shall include the following: Introduction Technical Approach including sketches/drawings Work Plan including Task Descriptions Detailed Cost Estimate including parts, materials, labor, shipping, overhead, and profit Schedule Individual or Company Experience Relating to the Proposal Topic
