In this project we need to write a code to scan a RGB LED matrix using a spartan FPGA. These LED panels are used to display images and to make LED screens we see in stadiums or outdoor advertisements. Here are some details about its theory of operation: - FPGA has a display frame buffer in it which is regularly updated by the next and next frame to generate a video from other CPU or microcontroller board, and FPGA regularly keeps pushing that frame buffer's data onto the LED panels to show video. You have to write a code to refresh FPGA's internal frame buffer onto the connected LED panel using serial connections. To better under stand the whole thing here we have a exact project example done by someone else which explains everything about the LED panels and how it works in below link. [login to view URL] It also has an example of verilog coding the same thing. there is another example project done with Altera FPGA code written in VHDL. Hi, Please share your complete project requirements/task expected from us. About us: We have 10 years of experience in Product development. Micro-controllers we can work on PIC, STM32, PSOC and AVR and also we have all the development kit and instruments available with us. For PCB design we use KICAD v4. I am an experienced (7+ years and counting) electronic engineer aimed mostly to FPGA programming. I have done may projects related to displays. Most recent is a custom driver for TFT LCD panel where I developed a VHDL code using Xilinx ISE, MicroBlaze and Spartan 6 with LPDDR memory as a frame buffer and OSD data using on board SPI flash. Skills gained in above project helped me to understand nature of various kind of displays and how to properly show an image. I am familiar with frame buffers, Vsync, refresh rate, HDMI/VGA/SDI and ways to interconnect display bus to other systems/devices. For this particular project my work flow would be like this: discussion about details --> initial documentation and plan for the project (block diagram, proposed architecture, buses, functionality etc.) --> VHDL code development --> simulation using test bench to confirm proper operation --> final deliverables (code and documentation). I have experience in Agile methodology and thus prefer a few milestones and frequent communication to make sure that we are on the same page. As for documentation you will get precise comments in code and also quick start documentation (introduction, how to compile/setup, block diagram, test results - if applicable) - all in English, PDF format.
