I'm interested in your proofreading project. English is my first language and I have more than 12 years of proofreading / copy editing experience, including being the copy editor for two years for the International Journal of Wellbeing. I was also the copy editor for two years for Elsevier Science Publishers, in the Physical Sciences and Engineering Division (when I was living in Amsterdam), and currently I have a copy editing role with the Blind Foundation of New Zealand, so these are somewhat related fields. I also have a technical writing certificate, the training for which focused on the editing of manuals, and I have since edited several training manuals, including one for a health provider. I have spent five successful years working via the Freelancer platform, mostly on proofreading / editing projects, always with excellent reviews. I prefer to work for a fixed fee rather than per hour, and my usual rate is USD15 per 1,000 words. Hello from Australia. Yes, I'm from "Down Under", but I have an excellent understanding of both US and UK English. And I've been using that understanding for many years as a writer/editor/proofreader. Rather than waste too many words here, I'll just use your own project description as an example. It's well written, without typos, etc. However, I can see one "fault" with it, which I have corrected simple by replacing the comma with a period/capital letter: "While people living with diabetes and cardiovascular disease still face many challenges, our team relies on our longstanding global heritage and commitment to prepare an innovation report to improve the quality of life of all affected people. Our team works closely with clinicians, patient and healthcare associations, and federal and state health departments to continuously raise the preventive discussion." As it stood, it was far too long, and difficult to digest in a single read. At the very least, that comma should have been a semi-colon - but I favor simplicity, hence my suggested correction.
