I have a linux server with a Magento store installed. Everything works fine except the image cache wont generate.
The images are available in the backend. And also show in the media folder, but not in the media cache folder. The required cache folders generate, like media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1800x/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/images/catalog/product/placeholder
But there are no images inside and its 404 for the images on the frontend.
I already tried setting permissions to 777, edit the htaccess file, all the standard stuff suggested in Google. The only thing I can think of is its a group/user permissions but the folder shows as being owned by this user group/user.
Im out of ideas, but I think its most likely related to some server configuration. If you dont know linux server config stuff, dont bid please. Thanks

Hey there, seems to me you've got an incorrect owner assigned to your folders - feel free to drop me a message.
I can take a look (free) and guarantee the fix before you even accept the project :)

Dear sir,
I think I can help you out.
Please checkout my profile, I'm on some other projects right now not so much time to write a long description when everything is written on my profile.
Regards,
I can fix your issue without any problem. I have handling 100 of magento websites with live servers. Please PM with me for more details and start work.
Hi There,
Mentioned issue occurs when there is no image found in the cache folder and on the same time it is not writable but according to your description, you've already set full permission to cache folder. But I can provide you solution to this because I've faced the same issue earlier in one of my project. SO I know how to deal with this.
Looking forward to work with you!
Hello Brother,
Good evening.
Correct path coud be the problem, sometimes nginx create issues for cache. Let me know which webserver component you are using. I am LAMP expert who is looking forward to resolve this.
