I need a camera application on Windows Mobile 5 (both PocketPC and SmartPhone) using DirectShow, with preview.
You can start with the CameraCapture sample in the Windows Mobile 5 for PocketPC SDK. However, this sample does not work on SmartPhone and does not give a preview window.
The final deliverable should look very close to the Camera app which shipped with WM5, without so many settings.
When the app starts, it shows the preview window.
On SmartPhone
The "Menu" (right button) has two menu items, behaving like radio buttons - "Still" and "Video". It decies whether the app will capture a still (JPEG), or record a video.
The left button will be "Capture". If the app is set to record a JPEG, it will simply save a JPEG on the device. You can decide where to put it without prompting the user. If the app is set to record video, it will start recording and change the left button text to "Stop".
On PocketPC
You can define the UI. The only use-defined option is whether to capture still or video.
I think the easiest way is to create a Tee filter (like the SmartTee on desktop Windows DirectShow), and somehow place it in the middle of the graph. Then, connect the encoder to one output pin, and renderer to the other.
It must be written in unmanaged C++ on VS2005. You can use MFC if that makes things easier.
