The game dopewars is a client-server based program in which clients (players) connect to a central server hosted on the Internet to play the game. The game comes with da # of Windows (and other operating system) based clients which use TCP/IP commands (few and well documented) to talk to the server. I want to create a new client...a web based client. The idea is that someone can come to a web page hosted by me, have the client automatically downloaded to their machine and begin playing on my server. The winning developer will: 1) Implement the web page itself in HTML with the look and feel of the windows client 2) Read the entire attached spec of the protocol and be able to implement it as an ActiveX control. The control can be written in either VB or Visual C++, but VB is preferred ! 3) Tie the web page in #1 to the active X control in #2 using a scripting language. The langauge can be either JavaScript, JScript or VBScript...but VBScript is preferred. Additionally, the HTML script should auto-download the Active X control if it doesn’t exist on the user’s machine. 4) Setup a "constants" area in the Active X control code that includes every variable (commented) for easy modification. In your bid, please provide your qualifications. Examples where you have done this sort of work before is a huge plus. The attachment contains the windows client and server for dopewars as well as the spec for the protocol and the complete source code written in C for the whole client server software!!
