System Requirements: Provide a single, platform independent ( i.e. Java ), executable; specifically Windows Vista, Windows 7 Mac OSX Functional Requirements: There are four basic functional components - Local Data: Collect the host computer's network interface configuration data. Test availability of network services Scan the local subnet for a specific devices MAC address and return its IP address. Test for DHCP service availability on the local subnet and verify it returns the needed data. Test availability of the DNS server returned by DHCP and verify a specific domains record against the authoritative DNS servers record for that domain. Test accessibility to a remote web service by making a request to a specific URI at the above domain. Test whether a proxy server lies between the host computer and the above web service domain. Logging: Log events and test results Configuration Provide for overriding default configuration Provide a login form that, if filled out, will modify several of the above tests to use basic authentication to collect additional data from the web service. UI Requirements: Implement 3 main UI elements and provide for inclusion of a logo banner and icon. UI Elements: 1. Run Tests - interface to select and run tests on network services 2.
