We need a developer with strong Java knowledge. You need strengths in the following areas: 1. Java 2. Strong knowledge of Linux 3. Strong knowledge in GUI 4. Strong experience in TCP and internet communications development/optimization 5. Strong experience in mobile development For each of the above five points, please describe an example of an application you built in the above areas. We do not need to see URLs or screenshots. We just want a simple 2-3 sentence description. If you do not provide a sample description for each of the above 5 points, you will not be hired. Please include the above five points in your first message to me so I know you are not posting a template response. We need you to design a media player for Linux with streaming capabilities along with several other more basic apps. If you do well on the job, there is the possibility for a full-time job for you.

1. Java: I have 4 years experience in Java. I have strong concepts on OOP, Design Patterns (GoF). I have good experience on Test Driven Development (TDD). 2. Strong knowledge of Linux: I have 2 years experience on Linux as development environment as software engineer. 3. I've developed a bunch of mobile Java applications with unique Canvas-level UI implementations. Some use online capabilities, others don't. So, what exactly is your project? You ask about mobile devices, but you only mention Linux? Can you be more specific about what you want? Thanks.

We have 3 UI-rich J2ME products in the market that use a client/server approach. Some use a http protocol, others use a direct XML over TCP. We wrote both server and client stacks for these in Java and J2ME. Linux was the preferred OS. Products implement TLS and SASL for encryption, SASL for authentication, and compression where needed. Network traffic was optimized to account for limited bandwidth and power consumption on devices. In some cases, we wrote our own custom streaming XML parsers.
