Need Help in designing Consumer product. The product is a cube shaped device that hangs on the neck like a necklace with low power Bluetooth connectivity to smart phones. The device will have two way communication with the smartphone. We have already developed the server side software and mobile phone software that will communicate with this "cube". Need: 1) What parts need to be inside the cube, and from what sources for: a) battery - power b) micro USB port for configuring and charging c) vibrator so that the device vibrates on command d) Some visual colorful portion on the cube that lights up e) hardware to handle communication with the smartphone f) Show source of the component and pricing 2)CAD drawing a) What size can this device be? It will hang on the neck, so must be small. b)How are internal components arranged? c) How should the outer housing be shaped, we want a cube or cube-like shape d) must be in a format so that the housing can be used with a 3D printer so we can "print" it and test This project does not require that you create a prototype. If you win this project, you are 1st in line to get paid to create the prototype and continue working with us on future versions.

Good day, I'm a mechanical design engineer for over 10 years and I specialize in product design for small consumer electronics. Current and previous projects include sensor based wrist devices, HRM and pedometers. I have worked on projects with bluetooth capability, vibrator, LEDs, with LCD displays...etc. Below is my proposal: The current BLE (bluetooth low energy) size in the market is LWD= 24 x 8 x 2.5mm so I'm estimating around 30mm-cube size of the device. If I can squeeze it to smaller size after layouting the other components, then would be preferable. - I'll find existing lithium ion battery that's appropriate to the size. You'll have to supply the battery capacity rating. - There's a 10mm diameter specs of a coin vibrator that we can mount on the case and connect to the PCB via wire or we can use a small flywheel type vibrator. - LEDs can be mounted on the PCB and be located to a translucent window of the case for the visual requirement. - I can send a list vendors for the hardware/ plastic molding company - metallic components such as vibrator must be located away from the antenna location of the BLE. - I will create 3D simulation of the mechanical parts & PCB outline and can submit in parasolid/ stp/ iges formats for 3D printing requirements or you can advise the format prefered.
