Basically, the idea is combining social media platform and social deal. For social media, preferably using open source platform (Exo Platform or Liferay is desirable, but OSSN, humbhub, elgg are fine too). Just like other social medias, user can register, login, upload display picture, add or accept friends, post pictures, create or join group, post status, comment, chat, view activities and notifications, etc... Every modules that are needed are already equipped in those platforms. On top of that, we need: 1. Eventbrite like. User can post an event. Some of social media open source platforms provide this module. But we need to tweak the module to be as powerful as Eventbrite. I mean, there should be a clear description of the event such as picture of event, the location, minimum or maximum users, free, or paid. The creator can invite other users as well. Other users that are not invited can request to join the event, but they need approval from creator. Users can also search the event based on location, the date, and/or their interest. 2. Social deal (Groupon like). Administrator or other organizations can also post events and add deals to either their events or user's events. For the deals, I mean they can add discount or rewards to the event, so users are attracted to join the event.
