Excel scripting to populate specs from a database

We use ArchiCAD to model our architectural projects. We would like to make a script in Excel that: 1. Builds a room-by-room summary list of fittings in the “Project Selection” file based on the “Selections Export” file from ArchiCAD. 2. Creates Option drop-down menus for each item in the list based on information in the “Fittings Database” file. A. Stretch goal: The user will have already chosen the finish type (e.g. “Raw Brass” or “Stainless Steel” for tapware) so it would be great for the drop-down menu to only show items that have these as a finish type. 3. After the user has selected their desired spec for each fitting, this information is populated in a separate Excel file names "Selections Import" (this is a certain type of Excel export that ArchiCAD then allows us to import back in). The Selection column is what applies the full set of data (Manufacturer, SKU, etc) to the item. The Option drop-down menus are used to narrow down the Selection field - the user could theoretically select from the Selection column without using the Options. There is a Default column in the Fitting Database with an "*" that identifies the default selection when the summary list is populated.
