The task is to create MS Excel spreadsheet for steel column base plate design to BS5950. The spreadsheet is to cover the following column section types: UC, UB, SHS, CHS, RHS - all selectable from one dropdown menu. A good example of calculation steps can be found in CSC Tedds software, and four printouts are attached for your information only. Also attached is a spreadsheet listing all required user input cells. The steel columns are subject to moment, shear and compression/tension. VBA is not allowed. You are not required to create the diagrams, this should make it a lot quicker task. The spreadsheet is to include only one tab, is to be comprehensive and easy to use. 'Joints in Steel Construction - Simple Connections' and 'Joints in Steel Construction - Moment Connections' books by SCI give easy to follow examples. Let me know if you do not have access to these two books.
