Looking for PL/PgSQL programmer to code a spatial function

Hi, I'm a geospatial developer with 4 years of RDBMS experience and 2 years of the intensive PostGIS work. My question is the following: you said the data can have a lot of polygons, did you mean that many parts of the multipolygon or you meant many distinct multipolygon database records? do you need to find the best position for the label for each multipolygon independently of each other like the others don't exists or you want to optimize the labeling for the entire table to have as more non-overlapping labels as possible? sorry, this is not clear from your description. Hi, I'm a Sydney geospatial consultant. I've done a fair bit of PL/PgSQL coding, including dealing with PostGIS geometries in my PL/PgSQL scripts. I also know PL/Perl which I sometimes use when the problem is more complex. I would be more than happy to talk further with you to get a better idea of what you need out the label placement algorithm. Such as, * Do you want different size labels? * Are you just looking to avoid labels overlapping and making sure they are places in a meaningful place for the feature they are labelling (given the multi-part polygon) or is there some other criteria? Either way, if you have a start in Javascript, maybe that would give me a better idea. It's hard for me to quote you a fixed price at the moment, however I've quoted a rough estimate which I'll need to refine once I understand your requirements a bit more. It is hard to estimate without knowing the rules used by the current label placement routine, so I have considered it as a 10 hour work, plus some time to validate and adjust it as needed. I have experience in the development of PL/SQL procedures and spatial routines and I'm confident that this knowledge is enough to start implementing PL/PgSQL spatial routines in a short time. Despite the fact that I have no prior specific knowledge about PL/PgSQL spatial procedures, I'm familiar with PostGIS and I have used it in a personal project a couple of years ago. So I think I can handle the job. I would appreciate to have more details about the project, as well as access to the existing routine and a sample set of data to experiment on before settling a deal.
