I am the webmaster of a private community portal. I programmed it by myself, but I'm not a programmer, so the code has grown rather chaotic. The complete portal has to be re-coded with state of the art techniques. Templates/Skins (css/html) to easily change the layout. Modularisation to easily implement new components. Access/Security-Management by roles. Localization of the system. System should be scaleble (webfarm, mysql master-slave replication) Core Components are: Editable User Profiles (with Pictures) Searchable Userlist Private Messages (webmail integration planned) Cam-Page (vie ftp-upload) Forum Buddy-List Party-Modul to organize events (calendar, guestlist, mailinglist ... ) Classified advertisements Chat Planned components: Location-Guide (with reports/ratings by users) Picture-Gallery (with comments/ratings by users) Event-Calendar (which integrates the existing party-module and the planned location-guide) My community runs on 2 Dual-Xeon Servers with Windows 2000 Server. First Server runs the Database (MySQL 4) Second Server runs the Website (IIS/ASP) I have about 4500 members and a maximum of 100-150 online-users at the same time.

We are a United States based firm, and we specialize in taking piece of (ASP-preferred) web software, and customizing them to one's liking, then integrating them seamlessly into our client's site. We feel this method of web programming is most feisible for projects like yours because (as you've discovered through trial-and-error), writing one's OWN software is quite tedious, and the finished result can be subpar or at the very least unsecure. So we'll take a piece of software (Snitz! ASP Forums), and add the portal module, private messaging system, and then add a full design. We'll combine our creative assets to make the portal experience a memorable one. Then, we'll add your FTP - cam uploads, etc. until we have a finished product that all parties are satisfied with.
