Project Objectives: Demonstrate your knowledge of the On-Site food service market by: I. Preparing for a job interview for a specific position in the On-Site market. You will choose the position you want to apply for. Details are later in the assignment. II. Creating your Career Objectives and Summary of Qualifications that could be included at the beginning of your resume. You do not need to prepare and submit a complete resume. III. Responding to four questions that the person(s) doing the interview is likely to ask you. IV. Writing three questions that you would ask of the person(s) doing the interview when he/she asked you if you have any questions for them. Section I: Points Assigned = 2 Find three places where you would go to look for a position in the area of the On-Site market you are interested in working. List and provide detailed information about the places you looked, e.g. web site addresses, company names, names of trade journals. From these sources select one position you want to apply for. Once you find the job announcements, cut and paste into your final submission. Section II: Points Assigned = 2 Create your Career Objectives and Summary of Qualifications to include at the beginning of your resume for the position you selected. The Career Objective and Summary of Qualifications is the first information the reader will see. The purpose of the Career Objectives and Summary of Qualifications is to have the reader be interested enough in you that he/she will read on. Keep in mind the reader could be reading 50 resumes in a couple hours. You want to stand out from the others. You must demonstrate to the reader that you know what you want to do (Career Objectives) and that you are qualified to do it (Summary of Qualifications). i. Each of these responses should be AT LEAST 250 words, maybe longer. 1) Why are you interested in the position of (name of position and name of company)? 2) What specific skills, experiences or knowledge do you bring to this position that will benefit our company? 3) I notice that you have a bachelors’ degree from the School of Hospitality Management at Penn State University. My experience is that most of the Penn State students prefer to work in hotels or commercial restaurants. What has influenced you to take a different direction than many of your classmates and recent graduates? foodservice and how did you come to this decision? Did a particular speaker, or tour, or presentation or work experience (or numerous things such as this) bring you to this choice? 4) I noticed you took a course in non-commercial (onsite) foodservice management, so I assume you learned about the difference between managed services/contract operated programs and self-operated programs.
