Topic: Select a Region/Country/State/City of your choice and prepare a report on the current state of municipal solid waste management. Such report, normally referred to as the baseline report, could include the following topics: 1. Profile of the selected Region/Country/State/City 2. Solid waste generation and physical characteristics 3. Existing solid waste management system 4. Institutional and financial aspects 5. Prediction of future waste quantities 6. Major problems and issues 7. Conclusions Following are the instructions to be kept in mind: 1. Information Seeking/Selecting and Evaluating: Should gather information from a variety of quality electronic and print sources, including appropriate licensed databases. Sources should be relevant, balanced and include critical readings relating to the thesis or topic. 2. Analysis and Synthesis: Should carefully analyse the information collected and draw appropriate and inventive conclusions supported by evidence. Should develop appropriate structure for communicating product, incorporating variety of quality sources. Information should be logically and creatively organized with smooth transitions. 3. Documentation: Must be documented i.e all sources. Sources must be properly cited. Documentation should be error-free. 4. Product/Process: Should have effectively and creatively used appropriate communication tools to convey their conclusions and demonstrated thorough, effective research techniques.
