Hi, I want to make a gsm vehicle security device using sim900 module, and preferably arm microcontroller the device will be simple and have basic functions such as 1. location through cell tower id 2. engine on off through sms 3. 2-3 input output for sensor 4. In built battery, and reverse polarity protection All the components should be easily available in India Local market, Low cost and of good quality. I have GPS vehicle tracker with SIM900 and Arm Cortex M3 processor for which i need firmware for SMS and GPRS tracking through tcp/ip. The firmware should have all the features of a GPS vehicle tracker such as GPS Location, cell id location, Fuel Monitoring, Door, ACC, engine hours, power cut alarm, overspeed alarm,I/O port function all sms commands to do the configuration of device. Other important requirement is there should be ODOMETER function in the firmware which will accurately calculate the distance travelled by the vehicle from gps position and command to reset this odometer when needed. Need PCB design for sim900 with ATMEGA328, voltage regulator (supply voltage to board is 3.7v through Lithium ion), need on board pcb antenna, sim card holder, ICSP pin header for installing the arduino boot loader, UART pinouts for programming the arduino, Arduino pin 2,3 should be connected to RX/TX of the SIM900 and rest of the arduino digital I/O pins should be around the board as pinout, all SIM900 digital I/O also should be around the board as pinouts, amplified speaker pinouts to connect a speaker (Need a variable resistor to adjust the volume), noise cancelled amplified mic pinouts to connect a mic (Need variable resistor to adjust the MIC input volume). API is like, Those variables you can set static before the setup: SN=000001 A=1 S=1 Z=1+2+3+4 Verify that the server has received the update by looking at received html, the server will return if it was received ok. Nothing will be present in the html if there is any error. Please also use serial to send comments to console to know where arduino is up to.

We are working with a battery powered remote monitoring device that uses a STM32F100CB controller and a SIM900 GSM modem. We are seeking to implement a FOTA capability, by allowing the STM32 to download new firmware (c 50k) from our server via ftp through the SIM900 device. The new firmware, once downloaded, is written to external I2C EEPROM and from there it may be used for replacing the existing firmware, subject to certain checks being passed. Our current issues are: FTP dowload is taking way too long (c 10 minutes). We do not understand why, though we suspect the writing to EEPROM via I2C is the main culprit. Using sim900 tied to PIC18F27J53 (3 wire UART). Every 6 seconds sample Waveform. Calculate Pk voltage Store in VNRAM Every 15 minutes Transmit the Average of all stored samples to webserver using HTTP post, I will provide test server/URL. Reset SIM900 using the PWRKEY if cannot communicate with SIM900. I have some working GPRS code that you can hack. Most important task is to be able to reset the sim900 and cache away any data that cannot be transmitted.
