Hello, I had a client whose server 2008 compromised by ransomware but lucky they are using virtual machines, they somehow managed to restore their server from the previous snapshot. I am working as System and Network engineer for a firm located in South Africa, We manage our Servers, Firewalls, and Workstations using N-able's N-central portal. Now as per your concern you want to know from where these types of attacks are initiating and to accomplish this I suggest you implement IDS(Intrusion Detection System) on the server.
