We specialize in furniture cabinet making and need an database driven online solution to keep inventory of all furniture parts produced.
The project will contain admin area (where designer will create projects, cabinets (width, height, depth, type, etc... assigned to project), doors(width, height, style, etc... assigned to a cabinet), custom parts (width, height, depth, type, etc... assigned to a cabinet) and hardware (vendor, vendor number, etc... assigned to a cabinet) This data entry will be done on a desktop computer via browser.
The simplier shop area will be for shop workers to mark parts that are completed
It will be a series of screens Login > Select Project > Select (doors for example) showing the list of doors for the project. Once shop worker completed a door - he marks door as complete using and android tablet browser.
In admin area office could see in real time project status (in % completed)
In admin area office could see who completed which part and at that time.
in admin area if multiple projects are selected than cabinet, door, custom parts or hardware lists show all items for all selected projects. please see attached sketches for better layout understanding.
As of now the work is done in excel files (I/ll upload a sample on tuesday). This solution has the following advantages
1) Very fast data entry in table row - and we would like keep this advantage
But there are the following disadvantages:
1) Each project has its own excel file and its not possible to quickly merge 2 or more hardware lists for example.
2) Its not possible to consolidate hardware lists. The hardware (slides, drawers, handles, etc) is entered per cabinet and similar hardware duplicates in different cabinets making it hard to order from suppliers. need a possibility to quickly consolidate hardware list to print out for ordering.
3)Excel files are printed and brought to the shop so that workers can mark completed parts with a pen. Sometimes printed lists are lost, also its not possible to see in realtime the overall project status and workers performance. In online solution when worker marks part as completed - hs name and time when completed will be recorded.
