PHP and Joomla Developer (minimum 6 week contract role)

Purpose of the position Alive is looking for a contract PHP and Joomla Developer to be involved in the development and maintenance of Joomla plugins, Joomla templates and interfacing Joomla to external systems. You may also be required to work on developing REST APIs, Administration Panels and occasionally some front end integration using PHP frameworks (Symfony or Laravel). We specifically require this expertise for a client project. You will work alongside Designers, Developers and our Solutions Architect and be responsible for developing the application according to business requirements. The successful candidate will need to write clean, maintainable and efficient code. Key responsibilities Develop and maintain Joomla sites and full-stack applications on the LAMP Stack. Problem solve application development and maintenance. Determine areas of complexity, potential risks to implementation, and understand application requirements. Following coding standards, build appropriate unit tests and integration tests. As a part of the Alive team, you will be expected to contribute positively to the Alive culture. Skills and Experience In-depth knowledge of Joomla CMS development, especially plugin and template development. Knowledge and experience in JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS3. Content Management concepts. Git workflow. Comfortable with object-oriented and procedural programming methods. Good understanding of software engineering practices and design patterns. At least a basic understanding of PHP MVC frameworks. Desirable Experience with frameworks for CSS (Less, Sass). Experience with Agile Software Development Methodology. Experience on Symfony or Laravel frameworks is a plus. AWS Vagrant Qualifications Bachelor of Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent. At least 2 years development experience. Personal qualities & behavioural traits Strong work ethic and generate positive energy around others. Self motivated, team player, action and results oriented. Well organised, good communication and reporting skills. Ability to successfully work under tight project deadlines. Willingness to dive into software environments and technical issues.
