Listify Theme Category Issue Fix

We are using the listify theme that displays equipment listings.
There appears to be an issue when we have too many listing categories & sub categories. It drastically slows down the site when trying to load any page on the site.
I've tested my theory as when I deleted all of the listing categories the site instantly sped up to normal operation.
I need somebody with some experience with the theme to resolve this issue.
