Capture content of form fields and email them via a php function

I have a multi-page form that is only emailed when fully filled. I want to capture a few basic fields before the form is complete to be able to have contact details if ever the person doesn't complete the full form.
The way I see this would be some javascript (or jquery) to collect the data from the fields and detect the button press on the "next" button. It would then pass the collected data to some PHP code that sends an email with the data.
If you have a better idea on how to do it, let me know.
I am using Wordpress and Gravity Forms. I can implement any custom code.

input_1_2 (first name)
input_1_5 (last name)
input_1_14 (email)
input_1_15 (phone home)
input_1_16 (cellphone)
The ID of the button is: gform_next_button_1_55
