We are running an ecommerce site using Zencart, which is based on OsCommerce code. This site sells tobacco, and as such, we need to verify a user's age and identity before checkout is allowed.
We have signed up to use IDology's REST API, which verifies the identity of a person. If you send a request to their server via http post, the info comes back as xml.
We want it to be part of the customer signup screen when a customer creates a new account. We want it to take the information from the fields when they create an account (name, address, birth year, etc.), populate this form with the info and send to IDology. If verification comes back okay, their account status can be set to "approved". (This status is already set up in Zencart)
If it doesn't come back okay, their account status can be set to "pending approval". But, we don't want the customer to see any of this. His signup screen should look like it does right now. So he should not be able to tell that he has left the site to go to the IDology API -- the script should read the xml results that come back and respond appropriately.
More info about the API is also here -- [login to view URL]
I can give more information in pmb if needed. Please only intelligent bids from people who know how to do this sort of thing. Thank you.
