Modification of SocialEngine Groups Module

I have Social Engine and the Groups module that comes separately. I have built a small webapp in PHP that I need integrated into the Groups module and User Profile pages. I can't figure out how to navigate the architecture of the SocialEngine code to properly integrate it. I expect the scope of this project to be mostly implementing a few include() functions in the right spots (the development of the app is ongoing, so I'll need to be able to keep updating my original files). Please let me know your familiarity with SocialEngine in your bid. I would like to get started immediately. Thanks :)
