Develop a tool which allows 'screen-scraping' (windows messaging really) using WM_GETTEXT and writing using WM_SETTEXT and other messages. A windows app can be started, and the tool will be used to assign own ID's to the relevant windows and controls (a bit like Spy++), settext and gettext can then be tested as well. This will result in a configuration file for this particular application, detailing the internal control id's etc. A service runs in the background which contains all these configuration files, and if the relevant application is started, the developer can then programmatically query (get, set, click) the particular controls, e.g. [login to view URL]("MyAppID").GetControl("txtName").Text = "Hello"; and [login to view URL]("MyAppID").GetControl("buttonOK").Click(); Controls to be included are: edit box, button, radio, list, checkbox, dropdown, datagrid & tab page controls So basically there's 2 components to the software, one the toolkit where you configure the controls you want to communicate with in a specific application and save it as some XML config file. And the second part is the service or library which uses specific config files and exposes an API to let developers communicate with the relevant applications. -- All to be developed in C# and PInvoke Win32 calls. Mainly using the USER32.dll. I'd like to know your thoughts on how to capture error dialog pop-ups programmatically and getting information from datagrid rows and lists etc. This is a high level spec. and any ideas or improvements on the description so far are welcome. I'm expecting coders with a pro-active attitude and good understanding of requirements.
