We have a 500 WAP rollout with about 500 users in a campus environment. We need a captive portal with credentialed access to the resident wireless system. We believe that PacketFence captive portal is a solution that meets our needs. We are looking for a highly knowledgeable consultant, with PacketFence knowledge, to consult with us to hone a strategy and install / configure PacketFence for production use.
We will provide remote access to a HyperV server to permit the installation and configuration of PacketFence.
The WAP system allows for definition of a Captive Portal URL. We will configure the WAPs to redirect captive portal requests to the PacketFence IP. PacketFence need to be configured to accept the request, prompt the WAP user for an ID and password, verify creds against a database of users (we assume the built-in DB to Packet Fence), and allow/disallow the user access based upon those creds. We want to set reauthentication time policy. We will want a mechanism to add, delete, or change users - preferably that an administrative person at the facility can make such changes so we do not have to facilitate each user / password change.
We do not want to proxy traffic due to expected volume of data.
