Ethernet Appliance Management App

Project is a Java GUI targeting Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms which will be able to discover ethernet based appliances which we manufacture. In addition to discovering the devices, the software needs to have the ability to update the firmware on these devices using standard network protocols (http / tftp). There are about 5 different devices we need to support, each having slightly different ways of discovering and updating them. The software needs to have a GUI for displaying the discovered devices, including the current firmware they are running, and options for allowing the user to select which devices they want to update. ## Deliverables I want to have the new firmware files embedded within the Java app... not sure how to do this... possibly as a resource file? Discovering the devices generally involves transmitting either a specially formatted broadcast or multicast packet, and listening for responses. Updating the firmware on the devices is done through either an HTTP connection, or a TFTP connection to the device, depending on the device type and model. We also want this application to be structured in such a way as to allow easy internationalization. The initial version should be delivered in both English and Spanish. Once the English version is developed, we can supply the translated text for the Spanish version. We designed and manufacture the ethernet appliances in question, so we can answer any questions with regards to communications protocols, etc. very rapidly. We started developing this application in-house, but do not have the resources to complete it in a timely manner. I've attached a .zip file containing the existing Java classes and project structure, which was developed in Netbeans. You can choose to start with this code, or start from scratch... whichever seems more efficient to you. We are not Java gurus, so you may want to restructure the entire project differently. In either case, the attached code should serve as starting documentation for the implementation. We will make samples of the appliances available on the Internet for development and testing. If required, we can ship samples to your location as well. Once this app is developed, there will be the possibility of ongoing work updating it for future devices and firmware.
