Hi,
I'm a freelance writer and editor. My main focus has been on promotional web content and B2B marketing. As such, know what to look for in a good article for a B2B magazine. I have excellent English skills (I was an English teacher before becoming a freelancer), so I can easily spot and correct any mistakes in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Here are the sentences you wanted fixed, with an explanation in brackets:
Singapore doubles bond volume to $31.5bn in 2012
(The usual abbreviation of 'billion is 'bn', not 'b'.)
Singapore permanent residents slammed with stricter rules on subletting flats
(Words in the middle of sentences, that aren't proper nouns, should not be capitalised.)
Here's why parental leave is "too complicated"
('Parental leave' is referred to in the abstract as a collective noun, so there's no need for pluralisation. Obviously once the pluralisation is fixed, 'is' is prefereable to 'are'.)
Sales were only at S$128m.
('Sales' is a plural and so requires 'were'. Additionally, depending on the context, it may be appropriate to move 'at'; I have left it here as I do not know the context!)
Why hopes are fading for a fatter wage hike in 2014
(The sentence may not strictly require 'a', but it reads better with than without.)
5 important news about the Singapore aviation industry you shouldn't miss
('Singapore aviation industry' requires the definite article ('the').)
I hope that has adequately demonstrated my abilities!
Thanks!
Frank.
