The work involves copy typing pages from a number of 17th century English volumes. These have been scanned to provide images of the pages at 600 dpi (though this can be reduced if necessary). I have tried using OCR software but the old style script and the inconsistencies in the font mean that the results are very poor. The words are perfectly readable but to someone unused to the old script and spelling it will take a little time to familiarise oneself with it. We require the text on a computer in a wordprocessor format (MS Word for Windows preferably) for later typesetting. A smaple page is attached at 150 dpi is attached. As the work is extensive - we have at least 1300 pages to processes, I would be happy to give training for the recgnition of the peculiarites of the old fonts used. The project price depends on the number of volumes eventually contracted, but it will be at least in the "large project" range.
