We have been struggling to find a suitable/interesting school project for a 12 year old.
Basically the project can be regarding anything, but has to have a hypothesis, which is then checked via experiments/research and a conclusion needs to be drawn.
The project needs to be handed in in 3 months. So it is something that should be manageable with spending a few afternoons on it (and of course it should also not cost the world to do it).
An example is the impact of healthy vs. unhealthy food on people (by eating healthy (unhealthy) food for a certain amount of time and checking some vitals).
It can be related to environmental issues, society, IT or anything else interesting.
What I need is a suggestion for a project with suggestions for the experiments/research.

I would just like to confirm that the school project needs to have a certain amount of complexity. With other words: it should be something that does not only take a day or less to put together. It would be nice if it contained a study (like growth of plants or comparison of different materials or ...)
