I need someone to come on the phone with me to help me with my cable management and possibly other IT requirements. I have had a new router added. So I have 3 routers now and need help with how they deal with all my traffic management. So in short I need everything running smoothly. I have various things that need to connect to the system. The main thing that went wrong was the printer will not connect now. I have virgin media routers and NETGEAR nighthawk as traffic management. I also have a virgin media business router connected with 13 extra Ip’s so that need to work. So I am hoping it’s just a case of cable management. So everything can see everything. But I need a good tech person to help me.
Hello there,
Unfortunately from what you are describing this could be quite a complicated network configuration, especially if you have a routed IP space from virgin in your network. Usually three routers won't work together purely by cabling if you want to have a contiguous network space, as they would have different gateways and outgoing IP addresses and all other manner of complication.
Whether this can be sorted out via a phone call is up for question; I personally wouldn't consider this anything short of a site visit to do the proper investigation to ensure that I understood all the physical and network restrictions on top of the actual requirements you have.
The fee given would be for a days site visit to work with you to understand and implement what you have and require.
Good luck.
/R.
This will require a site visit and you will require some WAN balance policies in place. I will be able to be on-site on Thursday this week to sort this out.
Is everything currently on a flat network or are there any switches with VLANS in place?
My hunch is that the new router that has been added is acting as a DHCP server which is giving the printer an IP outside of the range of your usual network.
