I'm currently in search of proficient beta readers for my memoir. It's roughly 75,000 words long, chronicling my life journey with intricate details.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reading the draft and providing annotated feedback
- Identifying plot holes, inconsistencies, and areas that lack clarity
- Offering suggestions that help improve the overall narrative and complexity of characters
The ideal candidate for this project:
- Must have prior experience in beta reading or editing, ideally within the memoir genre or similar
- Has excellent proficiency in English language and its nuances
- Possesses the ability to provide criticism in a constructive and positive manner
- Must be deadline-driven and able to adhere to agreed-upon schedules
This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in immersing themselves into someone else's life journey and contributing significantly to bringing their story to life. The collection of short stories, at about 75,000 words is, often, a humorous look at the early days of a boy from the Great White North that finds himself in Silicon Valley, on his own at 15-16 years of age, and joining in this great enterprise of the chip industry to come. The story then moves to the North Pacific, commercial fishing, building boats, and being mostly cold and wet. Then the story returns to Silicon Valley and the new software industry, Kona Hawaii to the coffee industry, and then back to the Pacific Northwest to once again be generally cold and wet. The stories touch on other abstract subjects such as UFOs, Artificial Intelligence, and general commentary on how life can just be pretty funny under almost any circumstance. My hope in writing it is that it might provide sufficient interesting information and humor to be a good read.
The book was part of a completed project for a family website but has expanded into a larger book. I am very interested to learn if the book has general interest for publication and a reader's general response to the story, characters, and writing style. The book is available as a word file.
