I need someone to write me a script that can take in an XML-RPC via a GET request and output valid RSS2.0:
i.e. [login to view URL]
The script needs to parse the XML and output an RSS feed with the updated request.
Basically it needs to translate the incoming XML to RSS and then save the RSS to a file.
Each time a request is made the output RSS file should be overwritten so only one request will be in the RSS file at a time.
To give you some background, this script is a shim to integrate a third party api with a blackbox system. The blackbox system can poll an rss feed for updates but the api can only make xml requests, guess where you come in?
As far as what language to use, I really don't care. The system it's running on is Linux so nothing that requires mono. Ruby, Python, Perl, or PHP would be the best options. The rest of the system is PHP but it doesn't really matter since its xml in and xml out.
The schema of the XML request with some sample data is attached to the project.
As far as the format of the outputted RSS goes, as long as it has all the data from the XML request and is valid RSS 2.0 it should be fine.
Question: Can you use external libraries with this project?
Answer: If you must, PHP has built in capabilities for this, i'm not sure of other languages. Just make sure it's nothing crazy, no huge frameworks or anything. I'd like to keep this as close to a single file as possible.
As I'm a developer and I'd love to have this info on these project descriptions, i'll include it here:
Version Info for destination platform:
PHP: 5.4
Ruby: 1.9.3
Python: 2.7.3
Perl: 5.14
I expect this should take no more than few days and my budget is less than $100.
Please include the language you intend to write the script in in your proposal, thanks.
