Biotech Patent Agent/Intellectual Property Law Clerk

Gary D. Aronson, Attorney at Law is looking to hire an experienced Biotechnology Patent Agent or Intellectual Property Law Clerk to work remotely and handle intellectual property related tasks for a successful sole-proprietor. Our clients are primarily in the field of biotechnology and we work closely with them from the earliest stages of technical development, offering advice about the protection of inventions and ideas, with a mind to business strategies. Under minimal supervision, the candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of intellectual property related tasks. Patent agents will participate in domestic filing. Responsibilities will include drafting new patent applications, researching prior art, drafting claims, and patent prosecution. Intellectual Property Clerk will perform similar tasks, including provision of technical and legal research and analysis with respect to matters pending before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Participation is expected in the planning, completion and interpretation of literature searches using both on-line databases and other search techniques. Expectation is that the successful candidate will be familiar with technological resources available to practitioners in the field. **Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Resources:** Successful candidate will have a strong science background with an advanced degree in the life sciences. USPTO membership is preferred, though membership to foreign patent jurisdiction will also be favorably regarded. Legal experience or advanced degree is preferred. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are required (as evidenced by scores on TOEFL or equivalent English proficiency examination). Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is essential. Candidate must also have access to high-speed internet connection.
