I've designed sheet metal part before. I have a feeling you may benefit from a custom spring design more than sheet metal. However, I haven't seen your design yet so I a just taking a guess. Sharp edges may be of concern with sheet metal in your particular application, so finish work will be required (deburring/tumbling at the very least)
