Script to test availability of redirects
$30-250 USD
Pagado a la entrega
I have a list of around 50 redirect URLs. I'd like you to develop a script that checks that each redirect is working and returning an online webpage. It can check whether the returning page is online by using regex to confirm whether or not a given text-string is found on the page. This ensures that the script checks not only that the redirect is functional, but that it returns a webpage that is not an error page or defunct content page.
I can supply the array of URLs and text-strings (perhaps in a line seperated CSV format), or you could engineer it to work with a Google Spreadsheet to extract this information. On completetion of the checks, the script should then produce an email report (outling sucess of failure for each URL), or populate the same Google Spreadsheet.
If using email, the subject line of the email should contain the number of checks made and the number of available URLs (perhaps taking the format: "03/11/13: 45/45").
I will setup the script on my webserver to be exectured as a CRON job on a periodic basis (probably once ever other day). The script does not need to be executable through a web browser interaction or to return HTML.
Please include the password "chocolate" in your bid. Proposals without the password will be ignored.
You will be more likely to be hired if you could demonstrate that you understand the problem and have already considered a solution. You may program the script in any popular language (Python, PHP, Ruby) as long as it runs on a Linux webserver with the default setup.
This should be a simple and fun project for someone who knows what they're doing. It's a fixed price project, but there could be opportunities to work together in the future.
You will see that I have a long standing reputaiton on Freelancer and that developers have enjoyed working with me.
