I have a website that was moved from one server to another - PHP/MySQL. The move was successful except the search function does not work properly - it used to work fine.
This site searchs the court dockets in Vermont - it is used by attorneys, law enforcement, employers, landlords, etc. to find if a person has been in court.
If I type in one word, for example SMITH I get all the results with SMITH. This is OK
But If I type in JOHN SMITH I need to see the 'exact' match of John Smith, but instead I get "No Search Results try other keywords." So ONE word searching works fine but as soon as I add the second word - no results.
A person would most likely search for John Smith. Smith alone produces 1000's of results. They might try 'smith' first - then narrow it by typing 'john smith'.
I need the search to produce the exact match if first/last name is entered. There is no single field for the exact name. It has to be somehow be extracted from the data.
This used to work fine (for 10 years) so there has to be an issue with the coding or technique used to search more than one word.
