Designer/developer for wordpress global event site

This design and build is for a global event on September 1st called Free Money Day, in which people, at various public locations, worldwide, will hand out their own money, two coins/notes at a time, to complete strangers, asking them to pass one coin/note on to someone else. The aim is to raise awareness and start conversations about the benefits of more sharing economies and is being coordinated by volunteers at the non-profit Post Growth Institute - http://postgrowth.org.

We seek a designer/developer with strong graphic skills as well as experience with php, jquery/java, wordpress, thesis and geo-coding.

The full site architecture, functionality requirements and content overview is available at: [url removed, login to view] including a basic mockup of how the front page might look (n.b. we now suggest putting the login lower down on the page and add a ‘register’ form at the top of the sidebar). Attached in .pdf are the Free Money Day and Post Growth Institute logos.

We need someone to set up our theme, graphics, and large functionality to get this campaign organization working. Need to be able to:

• Have a register/find event page (geo-coded with mappress plugin), and the ability to plug in where we needed - both on the main page in a smaller form and as a sidebar widget

• Integration of subscribers and mailchimp in a sidebar widget

• Overall site theme and navigation, social media & related graphics

• Template for sidebar page and sidebar-free pages

• Stats widgets for the event - including the number of events, people and funds pledged

• Contact form & receipt of message (which would be a javascript/jquery pop-up that directs to main page upon closing)

• Language/translation option

• Twitter update widget

We have done a basic Wordpress installation and a holding page is up at: http://freemoneyday.org. We are presently using the ‘thesis’ theme, but have been considering ‘Buddypress’ and are open to suggestions. We are using the ‘mappress’ plug-in for geo-coding.

This is a rapid build, with the final product needed by August 15th and regular updates/communication expected. We are open to compromising some functionality for a great looking design that allows future flexibility - for an example of the quality we are seeking, please see: [url removed, login to view] We can provide the development server, if needed and have a support developer who can assist with the build, the main thing we require is the site theme work, navigation styling, and graphics.
