adding code to webpage

i have a phpbb message board up and running and want to add a very basic home page. On this homepage I will need a basic header..(I have the logo already) and I want to add some widgets..for example, a job widget, a yahoo stock quote widget, a poll widget. In addition I want to add several advertising banners and google ads.
