Browser add-ons/plug-ins (Firefox, MS IE, and Safari)

We are developing an online indexing resource, and we need some add-ons writing to integrate it with browsers (see list of browsers under "platform"). Programs will be distributed from our server and installed directly onto the user's machine. Program will be required to communicate with our server (using raw HTTP), receive results, and then format them for presentation. Other tasks include installation, automatic update facility and internationalisation support. Full technical brief is available at [login to view URL], and is attached as a pdf here. This spec offers a lot of lattitude, so we anticipate a round of agreeing precisely how you're going to tackle the job We're anticipating commissioning a number of further updates over the next 18 months. Furthermore, if you're fluent in non-English languages, there is some translation work available. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform We need add-ons for these three at least: (a) MS IE7 (compatibility with earlier versions would be nice, but not essential), (C++) (b) Firefox 1.5.x and 2.0.x, (Java) and (c) Safari 1.3.x. Please bid on any or all of these. If you have your own favorite browser, please feel free to offer this too.
