C++ Application needs problem identification Windows Vista

High level: We need someone to look at the source of one of our applications and create a detailed document about a specific problem. This document will need to include sample code, references, possible solutions, tested solutions and overall impressions. (details included in Deliverables section) We have a application (attached) that works in Windows XP but does not work in Windows Vista. We had a programmer attempt to solve the problem but it appears to be more complicated that expected. The problem appears to be LSP related. We need someone that is 100% confident in LSP, C++, C# and Windows Vista programming. **Before bidding** 1) Make sure you have read **the deliverables**, include your thoughts in the bid. 2) Download and run the attached application, it should crash in vista and give you an idea of the problem. We need this done ASAP ## Deliverables We need someone to create a document that contains the following **Identify the root problem with Windows Vista** The problem needs to be fully identified. You must be able to open the project, compile it, and debug the application. You must be able to document the direct cause of the inability to work in vista. In short just answer these questions: 1) What cpp/header files are affected by the problem? 2) Is this one or multiple problems? If it is multiple problems what cpp/header files are involved with which problem? 3) Provide code snippets from the application of where the problem is originating. 4) Provide documentation both laymens (high level) and involved (something you would provide a programmer) that describes exactly what the problem is. **Identify the process to solve the issue in Windows Vista** For this part you must debug and identify: 1) The possible solutions. What are some quick ways to solve this problem. What are some more involved methods? 2) Attempt some of these possible solutions on the application, see if they appear to be resolving the issue. **This is critical!** You must attempt to validate your solutions before presenting them. This involves changing parts of the application and testing it on vista, or maybe creating a very slim version of the application that highlights the specific XP/Vista issue we are having. **This is where most of your time will probably be spent**. **Identify a "total overhaul" process and solution** For this part you must document: 1) Is there a way to remove all of the code and replace it with Windows Vista / XP compliant code? 2) Can the libraries used be replaced by open source alternatives that are more robust? We have a tight deadline and we are paying for expertise at this point. We need someone who is confident with debugging and providing in depth documentation. We want someone that will test their concepts before presenting them. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
