Ajax Gallery

I have about 275 photos that I would like to have on screen at one time. It's fine if the page is long. What I need is for the user to be able to choose the photos he/she likes (or doesn't like) and then click a button to submit a list of the photos chosen. I don't want to use check boxes. If possible, I'd like for the user to be able to "toggle" a picture ... say click and it greys out or something like that. I'm open to suggestions based on what's possible. I even thought the screen could be split down the middle and the user could drag the photos onto the opposite side... sort of like all photos on the left are desired... all photos on the right are rejected. Lightbox functionality, such as the photo being reviewed zooming up for a better look would be great, but not absolutely required.
