The Elmezzi Foundation of Astoria, NY is searching for someone to help us create a simple but eye-catching youth programs guide to be distributed to the community. This highly-needed resource will build awareness of the programs and services available to residents of Queens.
The guide is part of a response to a survey that was conducted in Queens over a period of two years starting in 2008. After discovering that youth and education are the overwhelming concerns of the community, we initiated a project to create an exhaustive guide of all the youth programs in the area. We have compiled the information of 140+ programs, and now we need to make the guide!
It probably won't be longer than 40 pages, with an easy-to-read layout and minimal text. A few icons will need to be designed to break up text and indicate age-group, season, type of activity, etc. It's a project that I'm sure any book designer can handle, as we're trying to make it as simple and straightforward as possible.
And it's for an excellent cause! You'll be helping to create a widely-distributed, essential resource to an underserved community in New York City.
