I need two involute spur gears in mesh over several tooth cycles in ANSYS Workbench modelled. I currently have a Static Structural simulation running, however I cannot modify this to be Explicit Dynamics or Transient Structural (beyond my knowledge).
The purpose of the simulation is to accurately model dynamic loading, which is the increased stresses present due to the deformation cause by the teeth coming in and out of contact. However if this proves too difficult, a slightly simplified simulation may suffice as long as the changing stresses can be shown as the teeth come into contact at different points.
The gears are involute and I have already created the geometries. Currently I have one fixed support and one frictionless support applied at the centres of either gear, and a moment applied to one also. By using adjust to touch and augmented Lagrange contact settings the Static Structural produces reasonable results.
This shouldn't be too much work for someone who knows what they're doing!
