Hi Dear! You missed 1 thing in picture. The input voltage 3.5 to 15v also needs to be sensed by the microcontroller, in order to output the correct pwn signal... I worked with mosfets and LC filters and Attiny/Pic microcontroller. I can design the system you require very efficiently. Hi, I'm quite informed with state of tec. for battery powered led. Your solution is the same I would adopt, but with a few changes. Modern led driver for that purpose and 3A current are designer for smartphone and are controlled via buss like I2C not PWM. The problem is that they are all in BGA format(not easy to breadboard).
