This work involves entering data from handwritten Boston tax assessment records. From uploaded pictures, you will enter the data into an excel spreadsheet following the included instructions. Refer to the attached "Example" zip file for an example picture, spreadsheet, and instructions.
This work requires attention to detail and an ability to read the handwritten records -- they become easier to read over time with practice, as you become accustomed to the writing style.
Your work will be combined with others' work to check for errors and create a unified dataset for the entire area over several years.
Future employment will be conditional on accuracy and (to a lesser extent) speed. Accuracy is very important as best can be made out in the documents -- the numbers should always be correct and the handwritten versions should be as close as possible to allow for correction based on data from other areas and years.
