Dear Client:
I am a chemical engineer with 20 yrs experience. I have experience formulating color and opaque cosmetics such as lipstick and nail lacquer. As a fellow at MIT, I took a course to study the FDA act, which concerns such products as toothpaste in the USA. I also have experience determining the safety of ingredients, including the concentrations that can be used and how they should be mixed together.
For your project, I would be interested in finding out the ingredients you might like to use. I lieu of that, what many scientists do is read the labels of products currently in the market to determine potential ingredients. For instance, I have a natural toothpaste product from Trader Joe's which lists the ingredients on the back: calcium carbonate, water, glycerin, xylitol, etc.... From there, the tricky part, which does require the experience I have, is to determine the concentration of each ingredient, specifications and how they should be mixed together. Another tool, is to get information and formulations from vendors and ULProspector.
I also have experience with finding new natural ingredients, such as those derived from algae or gleaned from the literature or vendors. In some cases, we need to review the patent literature as well, to determine if a particular formulation is patented.
I have a licensed business in Nevada. Most of business is from return clients. I hope we have the opportunity to work together.
Sincerely,
Sam Davis, PE
