Build a Website -- 2

2.1 Scenario

You are asked to assist the sales department with an employee and role based rate system.

Sales people often need to provide rates for certain roles on projects to prospective and current customers. In the organization employees are categorized into the following roles: .Net Developer, Technical Team Lead, Scrum Master, Tester, Architect, Database Administrator, SharePoint Developer and BI Developer.

Each role has a Rate per hour.

Employees have roles.

Administrators need to maintain roles, rates and employees.

Sales people need to search for rates and view which employees are associated with a role.

2.2 Instruction

Create a .Net system using C# or vb.Net with a SQL Server database for data storage.

It may be any type of application(s) ie web, windows, mobile etc.

Do not use any third party controls and libraries, eg DevExpress etc. Only use what comes “out the box” with VS2010/12/13 and what can be found in NuGet.

It must work!

2.3 Hints

The purpose of this test is to see how you approach a solution and the use of technologies etc. (hence why it’s a little vague). Bonus factors are that the code should be clean, standard, current, highly cohesive, loosely coupled, layered and that the database be suitably accessed and designed.

Don’t spend hours, utilize your strengths and don’t copy and paste from the web.

You may also submit a covering paragraph or two describing your approached and why you decided on certain aspects.
