The project is to create a class that I can use in my Android application.
I want a class that allows me to view an image on screen with panning, rotating and zooming but also wraps the image such that when panning, you can never reach the extent of the image. For example, if i continue panning left, as I approach the left hand extent of the image, it transitions continuously into showing the right hand edge of the image (see attached pdf for an example).
Details
Panning:
- Allow for up, down, left right panning by dragging your finger across the screen.
Rotating
- Allow for rotating (clockwise/counterclockwise) the image by using the standard two finger gesture.
Zoom Details:
- Allow for zooming in and out using the standard pinch gesture.
Image Wrapping:
- As the user pans/rotates/zooms, I want the image to wrap around (see example of what I mean attached)
Ideally, I want the code to be a standalone class that I can call from my main activity and input a bitmap image (of any size), and the class outputs a canvas that can be loaded to the view. My intention is to overlay additional images to the canvas before displaying it on screen, so I want the output to be a canvas that can be loaded from the main activity and not a class that directly displays the canvas on screen.
Hi,
I'd suggest to make this a custom View and in your code you would extend it and do your drawing on the Canvas after calling the custom View's draw method.. that way it's a part of the view hierarchy and all the bounds checking for the touch events etc is there from the start and wiring it up to your UI is nice and simple. If you have any questions please get in touch.
Cheers,
Daniel
