Company name and product: VariGuard SmartGlass
This is a full-page advertisement targeting museum conservators and curators. The trim size of the journal is W 210 mm x H 297 mm, with a 3 mm bleed. The ad should be be clean with a conservative/academic look.
Background on the VariGuard SmartGlass solution: Museums want visitors to see their exhibits contained in glass display cases. However, light-sensitive artifacts are subject to cumulative and irreversible light damage when on display. Conservators need to protect items from light damage, so these items are often kept in vaults - and the times they are out for visitors to view are limited. VariGuard SmartGlass solves this dilemma. SmartGlass is used in museum glass display cases, to protect light-sensitive artifacts from damage, by limiting light-exposure ONLY TO THOSE TIMES WHEN PEOPLE ARE VIEWING THEM. Our SmartGlass can be electronically switched between optically clear and dark, instantly. Any time a visitor is not viewing the item, the SmartGlass switches to the dark state and eliminates visible light exposure.
Design elements are below.
INCLUDE ALL OF THESE. However you are welcome to edit the messages if you can make them shorter and/or more compelling.
1) VariGuard logo: See attached file. However, we want to incorporate the word SmartGlass into the logo, using the same font size as the word VARIGUARD, however only the “S” and the “G” should be cap. The logo could be the ad banner, but it doesn't have to be.
2) Tagline: Why expose light-sensitive artifacts to light when they are not being viewed?
3) Messages:
a) VariGuard SmartGlass instantly switches between transparent and dark states to protect artifacts from visible light damage.
b) Two images are attached as files - VariGuard SmartGlass, in the dark and clear states, at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. We want both images in the ad. Enbedded into the image that has the glass in the dark state, insert an information button (circular or other). In the button, at the top should be the words “Lux Meter” and under that should be “0.0” with the word “Lux” after it. See below.

c) The message to tie in to the images should be: In the dark state, VariGuard SmartGlass blocks all light, providing complete protection from damage. When a visitor is viewing the item, it instantly switches to the transparent state. It switches back to dark when the visitor departs.
d) In a 6-week test of VariGuard SmartGlass, the Smithsonian National Postal Museum reported that based on lux meter data, “…artifacts in the case were receiving over 90% less light then the exterior of the case.” This protection was achieved by limiting light-exposure to times a visitor was viewing the item. (We want this to be a primary message in the ad - large font. The words “Smithsonian National Postal Museum” should be called out in a different color and/or size.)
e) Retrofit existing display cases with VariGuard SmartGlass, or specify it for use in new cases.

Several have asked the name of the font used in the VariGuard logo, because we requested that the word "SmartGlass" be added to the logo. The logo is old and we have been unable to reach the person who designed it. We are also open to an alternative font type. Therefore, you can choose a font that is similar to the font used in "VariGuard," or, you can use your design skills to select a different font for both "VariGuard" and "SmartGlass"
